ZZ Top, a.k.a. the first gentlemen of bearded rock, have announced the full details of forthcoming album La Futura. This will be the band’s first album in nine years and it streets on September 11 through American Recordings. It is also interesting/impressive to note that the album that marks an impressive 42 years with the same lineup.

Four tracks from the album, “Texicali,” “Chartreuse,” “Over You,” and “Consumption” premiered last month as a digital EP. Frontman/producer Billy Gibbons describes the tone of the project as direct and modern. “We thought long and hard about what this album should be,” he says via release. “We wanted to recall the directness of our early stuff but not turn our backs on contemporary technology. The result of this melding of the past and the present is, of course, La Futura."
