Clapton’s Crossroads Festival Coming to the Big Screen
When we last checked in with Eric Clapton, the guitar legend had been laid low by a back injury that forced him to cancel a couple shows in Austria and Germany. However, before his physical health had been compromised, Clapton staged his annual Crossroads Guitar Festival on April 12 and 13 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The star-packed concert, which benefited a drug and education facility in Antigua founded by Clapton, featured performances from such ax-wielding gods as Keith Richards, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck and Gregg Allman.
And now, for one night only, Clapton’s epic revel will be playing in theaters across the country. On Tuesday, August 13 at 7:30pm, Fathom Events will be screening “Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013” in hundreds of U.S. theaters. Head on over here to find a participating theater near you.
According to Fathom Events, the film clocks in at a generous 150 minutes and features exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the festival.
Here’s the full list of performers featured in the film: Allman Brothers Band, Blake Mills, Booker T., Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II, Eric Clapton, Gary Clark Jr., Gregg Allman, Jeff Beck, John Mayer, Keith Richards, Keith Urban, Los Lobos, Robert Cray, Sonny Landreth, Vince Gill, and Warren Haynes – Slowhand never disappoints.
