Rolling Stones Working On New Tunes in Paris
A picture’s worth a thousand words. A Tweet: 140 characters. Combine the two and add Mick Jagger to the mix? You’ve got yourself an internet abuzz with anticipation.
A few days after being photographed exiting a studio with fellow members of the Rolling Stones, Jagger tweeted a picture on August 23 that all but confirmed speculation that the Stones are recording new material, and the only question now is just what the Stones have in store for us.
The tweeted photo depicts a smiling Jagger holding a Fender and surrounded by a veritable army of additional guitars. Mick appended this text to the pic: “Had fun in the Paris studio this week!”
It does make sense that the Stones would be doing something special in the studio right now. 2012 marks the band’s 50th anniversary, and an HBO documentary charting Mick and company’s storied history will be airing later in the year. Jagger has also hinted at upcoming live appearances, and the entire band recently got together in London for a Stones-centric photo exhibit.
Earlier this year, Keith Richards spoke to Rolling Stone about the possibility of new Stones music. "I'd love to get some tracks down and see what songs we've got,” said Richards. “And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I'd love to cut some tracks, yeah."
Looks like Richards got his wish.
