Little Steven Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Bring The Rascals Back Together In Style
Steven Van Zandt, best known to music fans as Bruce Springsteen’s axe-slinging E Street Band sidekick and beloved by TV fans for his role as Silvio Dante on The Sopranos, is also a dedicated curator of rock ’n’ roll history. As a program director for Sirius and as host of Little Steven’s Underground Garage, Van Zandt gets to play rock and roll pusher to millions of listeners on a regular basis.
Van Zandt has just announced his latest scheme to bring rock 'n' roll history to life: on December 13, 14 and 15, Little Steven will be overseeing the long-awaited reunion of The Rascals, who have not performed together in over forty years.
During The Rascals’ seven-year run, the soul group released the hits “Good Lovin’”, “Groovin’” and “People Got to Be Free”, among others. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, but have not, until now, gotten down to the business of getting all four original members back together.
To realize his grand vision for the reunion concerts, which will feature “a combination of narration, filmed scenes of actors acting out key moments in the band's history, news footage, and archival footage of the band” in addition to The Rascals’ live performance, Van Zandt has started a Kickstarter campaign.
Van Zandt hopes to collect $100,000 in donations to give The Rascals the party they deserve. According to the official Kickstarter page, “there will elements of the staging and light design never seen before just as Marc Brickman has done in his previous groundbreaking work with Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Blue Man Group, the Olympics, and Roger Waters' recent 'The Wall' tour.”
So if that sounds like something that might be worth a few of your hard-earned dollars, head over to the “Once Upon a Dream” and help Little Steven out.
