Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit Streaming Live This Weekend
Since 1986, Neil Young and his wife, Pegi, have organized an annual concert to benefit the Bay Area’s Bridge School, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring “that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities.” The Bridge School Benefit shows go down every October, and this weekend, for the first time in twenty-six years, folks outside of the Bay Area will be able to join in the fun (and contribute to a worthy cause) via Pay Per View.
This saturday’s concert, which features the same stellar line-up as Friday evening’s show, will be available for streaming here for a mere five dollars.
And what do you get for those five measly bucks? Well, in addition to supporting Bridge School, you’ll be able to witness acoustic sets from Neil Young, Guns N' Roses, Jack White, Sarah McLachlan, Flaming Lips, k.d. lang, Foster The People, Lucinda Williams, Ray Lamontagne, Steve Martin, and Gary Clark Jr.
The webcast starts at 4pm EST and is scheduled to run ‘til around midnight. That is a whole lot of musical entertainment for five clams.
The Bridge School Benefit will mark a brief interruption in Neil Young’s cross-country tour with Crazy Horse. Young and his band are in Los Angeles today, where they’ll be playing the gorgeous Hollywood Bowl with Los Lobos. The Rock Square team will be there to see what Young’s got up his sleeve, so tune in tomorrow for a concert review.
