Pearl Jam Unveil Mobile App
In what is becoming an increasingly common move for bands with a bit of history behind them, Pearl Jam recently unveiled a comprehensive mobile app that offers fans an all-access pass to the band’s past and future. The app, which is available exclusively in the iTunes store, will include a timeline history of the band, videos, photos, news and tour info, as well as access to concert tickets and exclusive Pearl Jam merch.
“This is a big and active year for the band in terms of album and touring. We wanted to bring all the best features on pearljam.com and the band’s Ten Club to fans via their mobile devices so they weren’t bound to their computers to reap all the benefits,” said Ten Club manager Tim Bierman. “The app was created to serve all Pearl Jam fans, but it also allows our official Ten Club members to log into their membership accounts on-the-go.”
The app is now available via iTunes here.
In other Pearl Jam news, the band has just released a video in which guitarist Mike McCready reveals the inspiration behind “Mind Your Manners,” the lead single from the band’s forthcoming Lightning Bolt.
“It's my attempt to try to make a really hard edge-type Dead Kennedys-type sounding song," McCready explains in the short clip. “I wanted that kind of aggression and that kind of feel in that song, so I came up with the lyrics 'Mind Your Manners'. Jeff [Ament] brought in a lot of his real punk rock kind of bass ideas of starting and stopping…kind of the school he comes from is that; I came from more of the metal thing but always wanted to dive into the punk side."
