Heart’s Stunning “Stairway to Heaven” Video Available on iTunes
Last year’s Led Zeppelin tribute at the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony was a star-packed affair--Jack Black, The Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz and Kid Rock all payed homage to the classic rock icons--but it was Heart’s majestic rendition of “Stairway to Heaven” that brought the house down (and brought a tear to Robert Plant’s eye).
Now, for a limited time, a re-edited version of Heart’s memorable performance is available for purchase on iTunes. Featuring footage never seen before, director Michael Stevens’ re-worked cut of Heart’s Zeppelin tribute will be available at the online retailer for one month only. Check it out here. All proceeds from the video’s sale will benefit the Kennedy Center, which recently announced a round of 2013 honorees that includes Billy Joel and Carlos Santana.
"I am so happy you all liked our performance of “Stairway to Heaven” at The Kennedy Center Honors event,” Heart’s Ann Wilson wrote after last year’s event. “It was our honor to be asked to do it before an audience like that. My main goal though was to please Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones...especially Plant, since all these many years he has taught me so much about singing from the soul and has given me such pleasure in his lyrics. What a high that night was. Never to be forgotten!"
In other Heart news, the Wilson sisters are set to perform at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit on October 26th and 27th, along with Queens of the Stone Age, My Morning Jacket, the Killers, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Fun., Jenny Lewis and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
