Jack White to Produce the World’s Fastest Released Record

Apr 4, 2014 at 4:50 PM | Music News | By Rock Square

Record Store Day is a mere two weeks away, and as we found out last week, there is a whole lot of limited edition vinyl product worth saving up and standing in line for. And now there's even more reason to get excited: White Stripes main man and all-around rock revivalist all star Jack White has just announced plans for a RSD release to end all RSD releases.

As announced on the Third Man Records website yesterday morning, Jack White will celebrate Record Store Day on April 19th by producing The World’s Fastest Released Record.

What does that mean exactly?

Here goes: on the morning of April 19th, White will take the stage at Third Man Records for a live performance of “Lazaretto,” the title track off his upcoming LP. The performance will be recorded “direct-to-acetate” and the masters will be rushed to United Record Pressing, where 45s will be pressed right away. The record sleeves will be printed with pictures taken at that morning’s show, and the finished product will be sent back to Third Man on the same day. United Record Pressing will continue pressing and shipping records as long as there are fans waiting to buy them--but for one day only.

Whew. Third Man Records is going to be INCREDIBLY busy on April 19th. But if there’s anyone who can marshal technicians and fans alike into a great heaving mass of rock and roll toil and joy, it is Jack White.

Check out “High Ball Stepper,” the first single from Lazaretto, below.
