The Grammy Awards celebrated their 55th anniversary this past Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences doesn’t limit itself to a single night of revelry. There was the MusiCares Person of the Year gala on Saturday night, which found Bruce Springsteen being feted by a number of notable guests, in addition to various pre-parties and summits and receptions and soirees and other things you probably weren’t invited to.

2013 also found the Grammy Hall of Fame celebrating its 40th Anniversary with an impressive array of new inductees. Among the handful of unassailable classics finding a permanent place in the Academy’s vaunted Hall, was one of our favorites AC/DC’s Back in Black album.

This is all to say that the Grammys are more than just a Sunday night television show, and the whole wonderful, teeming mess of Grammy culture has once again been commemorated in a 240-page Souvenir Book. This tome, which Rock Square was lucky enough to be a part of (check out page 99!!), features profiles of nominees, reviews of Hall of Fame selections, editorial contributions from Grammy winners (Flea, Dave Stewart, Philip Glass) and pretty much everything else you’d want to know about this year’s Grammy greatness.

And since we found our way into the book this year, the fine folks at the Recording Academy have been kind enough to allow us to offer a free download of the book to Rock Square members and fans.
